Important milestones 1998 Education Center for Non-Profit Organizations was established in September 1998. In the process of its establishment and formation it was supported to a large degree by Slovak Academic Information Agency – Service Center for Third Sector (SAIA – SCTS) and Economic Faculty of Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica (EF UMB). First CVNO´s project was a 2-semester study (later a 3-semester study) called “Economy and Management of Non-Profit Organizations” that was prepared and implemented in close cooperation with Economic Faculty of Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica and Philosophical Faculty of Charles University in Prague. It referred to a unique educational project that provided managers of non-profit organizations in Slovakia with qualitatively new form of education. The educational project lasted for 5 years and it prepared more than 150 graduates. The last sixth year of the project was designed for preparation of study texts for Bachelor degree and Engineer degree study that continues today on the ground of EF UMB. Danica Hullová and Helena Chmelíková were present at birth of CVNO personally.
1999 CVNO has got one of first internationally certified lecturers in Slovakia in the field of EU project creation methodology – Project Cycle Management.
2000 In the year 2000 the target group of CVNO was extended by representatives of self-governments thanks to the project “Education of local self-governments with focus on non-profit sector” financed by Foundation for the Civic Activities Support (NPOA). This project started a long-term cooperation with entire network of Regional Education Centers (RVC) specialized in education of self-governments.
2002 In the year 2002 CVNO joined first international project “Cross-Border Networks in Adult Education in Europe” with partners from Hungary, Austria and Sweden. Since this period CVNO has established cooperation with foreign partners almost all over the Europe. In 2009 number of our international projects with EU countries reached a double-digit number. Tomáš Findra joined CVNO team.
2003 CVNO started its first trainings focused on preparation of projects according to EU official methodology – Project Cycle Management. Similarly, in this year CVNO obtained first accreditations for its educational programmes (accreditation of the Ministry of Education of the SR).
2004 We started to cooperate with our partnership organization ECAS in Brussels where our key lecturers completed their internships. This year represented for our organization a new stage in its development. In cooperation with Board of Directors and under supervision of PDCS from Slovakia and MDF from Netherlands we processed Strategic development plan and Action plan of enlargement and quality improvement of our training and consulting services. This project was financed by Open Society Foundation – OSF. After Slovakia´s access to the European Union CVNO participated in first call announced by European Social Fund (ESF) in Slovakia. Thanks to acquired financial means we started to implement an extensive education project “Projects for Regions”. Similarly, CVNO participated in first requalification courses for unemployed people in cooperation with partners from entrepreneurial sector (TMC Consulting and IVAKS). We made first steps in education, preparation and professional management of Programmes of economic and social development for towns and municipalities of southern Slovakia. CVNO team was enlarged by another college Miroslav Hulla.
2005 CVNO translated and published first school-book of project creation methodology called “Project Preparation by Use of Logical Framework Methodology”.
2006 CVNO started to create and implement development aid projects. First project called “EU Project School for Serbia” was implemented in Niš town in Serbia. This project opened for us a space for further cooperation with non-profit organizations and educational institutions in this country.
2007 CVNO enlarges its offer of educational activities in the area of project management by e-learning study form. In cooperation with Open Society Foundation (OSF) we prepared a 3-semester pilot course “EU Project School” and we keep on developing the distance learning.
2009 CVNO implements its first project with partners from Ukraine.
2010 CVNO carries out educational activities and courses, continues implementation of another three projects funded by the Structural Funds in Slovakia, carries out projects and educational activities in Balkan countries and initiates cooperation with international European partnerships and networks
